This is a good proverb. In the last few years I’ve only been creative (e.g., taking a creative writing class) because I’ve fought the fear of failure. It’s easy for one to talk oneself out of something or to put something off, but one has to make the fearless jump to put things into motion, which of course is usually rather gratifying.
Absolutely! So many times we crafty people think ‘is this good enough?’, ‘Will people like this? ‘, Who cares! Art is so subjective that you’ll always face praise from one corner and shrugs of ‘it’s alright’ from another. But at the end of the day if you create something that brings you joy you’ve succeeded.
