Ginger Bread

It’s always fun to bake but it’s even more fun to share your wares with others. I’d been moaning a bit this week to a mate so decided ginger bread was the answer, not only to cheer myself up but to provide a little gift to my kindhearted friend.



Just a touch of cellophane and ribbon make even the burnt ones look good!

Ginger Bread Recipe

Makes: 40 little stars or 20 ginger bread men/ ladies

Cooking Time:  10mins at 180

125g butter at room temperature

100g brown sugar

375g plain flour

125ml golden syrup

1 egg yolk

1 tbls ground ginger

1 tsp mixed spice

1 tsp bicarb soda

Beat sugar and butter with electric whisk, add syrup and egg yolk, stir in sifted dry ingredients.  Knead into a round lump and cover with cling film and put in the fridge for 30mins.  Once rested in fridge roll out onto a lightly floured surface till about 5 mm thick and cut out your desired shapes!

Crafty Tip : If you don’t have mixed spice mix together a little cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg
